The problem
Farmers sold through middlemen at prices they could not check, and useful information (weather, logistics, subsidy schemes) was scattered across sources most of them never reached.
The approach
- 01Built the app in React Native with a multilingual, low-literacy-friendly interface: large touch targets, icons and Urdu alongside English.
- 02Kept the first release to listings, offers and direct contact, then added weather and scheme information once farmers were active.
- 03Designed for offline-first use so listings and prices stay readable when the connection drops.
The result
5,000+ farmers using the platform (figure published on devkeytech.com).
What it taught us
- If users are not fluent readers, the interface has to be the manual. Test with real users early.
- Connectivity is a feature decision, not an afterthought.
