## Services
### Web Development
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/services/web-development

Dilawar Khan and the DevKey Tech team build websites and web applications with Next.js, React, TypeScript and Node.js, covering both the frontend people use and the backend that runs it. Typical work includes company websites, e-commerce stores, marketplaces, SaaS products and dashboards, built to load fast, rank in search and stay easy to maintain.

Includes:
- Business websites: Company, service and portfolio websites built to load fast and rank.
- E-commerce stores: Online stores and B2B wholesale platforms that are easy to manage.
- Web apps & SaaS: SaaS products, customer portals and admin dashboards.
- Frontend development: Responsive, accessible interfaces in React, Next.js and Tailwind CSS.
- Backend & APIs: APIs, databases and authentication with Node.js and Supabase.
- Redesigns & migrations: Move an older site to Next.js without losing search rankings.

Tools: Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui, Supabase, Node.js, MongoDB

Q: Which framework does Dilawar Khan use for websites?
A: Most websites are built with Next.js, React, TypeScript and Tailwind CSS, with Supabase or a Node.js and MongoDB backend when the project needs one.

Q: Can an existing website be redesigned instead of rebuilt?
A: Yes. Redesigns are a regular part of the work, for example the redesign of the Accounts Bridge accounting firm website in Next.js.

### Mobile App Development
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/services/mobile-app-development

Mobile apps are built with React Native, so one codebase serves both Android and iOS. Past work includes marketplace apps for the Pakistani market, such as an agricultural marketplace and a B2B wholesale platform.

Includes:
- Android & iOS apps: One React Native codebase for both platforms.
- Marketplace & ordering apps: Buyers, sellers, orders and payments in one app.
- Booking & service apps: Appointments, bookings and service requests on the go.
- App backends & admin panels: The API, database and admin panel behind your app.
- App Store & Google Play publishing: Store listings, release builds and review feedback handled.
- App updates & maintenance: New features, performance fixes and dependency upgrades.

Tools: React Native, TypeScript, Node.js, Supabase, MongoDB

Q: Does one app work on both Android and iOS?
A: Yes. React Native lets a single codebase run on both platforms, which lowers cost and keeps features in sync.

### Desktop App Development
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/services/desktop-app-development

Desktop applications are built with Electron.js, React and TypeScript, and run on Windows, macOS and Linux. Dilawar Khan has built Electron software for a vehicle testing and simulation platform, along with business tools that need to work offline.

Includes:
- Windows, macOS & Linux apps: One Electron.js codebase for every desktop platform.
- Offline business software: Stock, billing and ledger systems that work without internet.
- Hardware & simulation front ends: Desktop interfaces for hardware, simulation and engineering tools.
- Web app to desktop app: Turn an existing web app into an installable desktop app.
- Installers & auto-updates: Packaged installers and automatic updates for your users.

Tools: Electron.js, React, TypeScript, Node.js

Q: Can a desktop app work without internet?
A: Yes. Electron apps can store data locally and work fully offline, then sync when a connection is available if the project needs it.

### AI & Business Automation
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/services/ai-automation

AI automation connects large language models such as GPT and Claude to your business data and tools, so routine work like answering customer questions, processing documents, updating records and sending follow-ups runs on its own. Dilawar Khan and the DevKey Tech team build AI chatbots, AI agents and workflow automations, and add AI features to existing web and mobile apps.

Includes:
- AI chatbots: Support assistants that answer from your own content.
- AI agents: Agents that take actions in your tools, with human approval where it matters.
- Workflow automation: Connect CRMs, spreadsheets, email, WhatsApp and internal systems.
- Document processing: Extract data from invoices, forms and PDFs.
- AI features in your app: Add AI to existing web and mobile apps.
- Custom APIs & integrations: Connect systems that have no ready-made connector.

Tools: OpenAI API, Claude API, Vercel AI SDK, n8n, Node.js, Next.js, Supabase

Q: What business tasks can be automated with AI?
A: Good candidates are repetitive tasks with clear inputs: answering common customer questions, qualifying leads, extracting data from documents, writing first drafts, routing support tickets and syncing data between tools.

Q: What is the difference between an AI chatbot and an AI agent?
A: A chatbot answers questions. An AI agent can also take actions, such as creating a record in your CRM, booking a meeting or sending an email, usually with rules and approval steps you control.

Q: Can AI automation work with the tools a business already uses?
A: Yes. Automations connect to existing tools through their APIs, such as Google Workspace, CRMs, spreadsheets, email and messaging apps, so the team keeps working where it already works.

### UI/UX Design
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/services/ui-ux-design

Interfaces are designed for clarity first: clear hierarchy, readable type and layouts that work on a phone. Designs are built on component systems such as shadcn/ui so what is designed is what gets shipped.

Includes:
- Website & app UI design: Interfaces designed for clarity on every screen.
- Design systems: Reusable components so design and code stay in sync.
- Product redesigns: Modernise the look and flow of an existing website or app.
- Responsive layouts: Layouts that work on mobile, tablet and desktop.
- UX audits & accessibility: Find what confuses users and fix it, including keyboard and screen-reader use.

Tools: Figma, Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui, Framer Motion

Q: Is design included with development?
A: It can be. Design and development are offered together or separately, depending on what the project needs.

### SEO & Digital Marketing
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/services/seo-digital-marketing

SEO work covers the technical foundation (speed, structured data, sitemaps, clean metadata), local search for businesses in Islamabad and across Pakistan, and content. Sites are also prepared for AI search, so assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity can read and cite them.

Includes:
- Technical SEO audits: Find and fix speed, indexing and metadata problems.
- Local SEO & Google Business Profile: Show up in map results in Islamabad and across Pakistan.
- Schema markup: Structured data that helps search engines understand your business.
- AI search optimization: Get read and cited by ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity.
- Content & social media: Content and social media for business websites.

Tools: Next.js Metadata API, JSON-LD, Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools

Q: What is AI search optimization?
A: It means making a website easy for AI assistants to read, understand and cite: clear factual content, structured data, open crawler access and consistent information across the web.

## Hire
### Hire a Full-Stack Developer
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/hire/full-stack-developer

You can hire Dilawar Khan as a full-stack developer for web, mobile and desktop products. He handles the frontend (React, Next.js), the backend (Node.js, Supabase, MongoDB) and deployment, backed by the DevKey Tech team when a project needs more hands.

Can build:
- MVPs and SaaS products from idea to launch
- Web apps with user accounts, payments and dashboards
- Marketplaces and e-commerce platforms
- One backend and API shared by a website and a mobile app
- Cleanup and new features for existing codebases

Skills: Next.js, React, TypeScript, Node.js, Supabase, MongoDB, React Native, Tailwind CSS

Q: What does a full-stack developer do?
A: A full-stack developer builds both the frontend that users see and the backend that stores data and runs business logic, so one person can take a product from database to user interface.

Q: Why hire one full-stack developer instead of separate frontend and backend developers?
A: For MVPs and small to mid-sized products, one full-stack developer means fewer handoffs, faster decisions and lower cost. Larger projects can add specialists from the DevKey Tech team.

### Hire a Web App Developer
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/hire/web-app-developer

Hire Dilawar Khan to build a web application such as a SaaS product, customer portal, marketplace or internal dashboard. Web apps are built with Next.js, React and TypeScript on a Node.js or Supabase backend, designed to load fast and grow with your users.

Can build:
- SaaS products and subscription apps
- Customer portals and booking systems
- Admin dashboards and internal tools
- Multi-vendor marketplaces
- Progressive web apps that work well on phones

Skills: Next.js, React, TypeScript, Node.js, Supabase, Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui

Q: What is the difference between a website and a web app?
A: A website mainly presents information. A web app lets users do things: sign in, manage data, make bookings or payments, and see content that changes per user.

Q: Which technology is best for building a web app?
A: For most business web apps, Next.js with React and TypeScript is a strong choice: it is fast, search-friendly, widely supported and works with backends such as Node.js and Supabase.

### Hire a Frontend Developer
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/hire/frontend-developer

Hire Dilawar Khan as a frontend developer for fast, responsive interfaces built with React, Next.js, TypeScript and Tailwind CSS. He turns designs into accessible, accurate UI that works on phones, tablets and desktops.

Can build:
- Figma designs turned into production React and Next.js code
- Landing pages and marketing sites tuned for Core Web Vitals
- Component libraries and design systems with shadcn/ui
- Dashboards and data-heavy interfaces
- Animations and micro-interactions with Framer Motion

Skills: React, Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui, Framer Motion

Q: What does a frontend developer do?
A: A frontend developer builds the part of a website or app that people see and use: layouts, forms, navigation, animations and the code that connects them to the backend.

Q: Can a frontend developer work with my existing backend team?
A: Yes. Frontend work can plug into an existing API, with agreed data contracts and regular check-ins with your backend team.

### Hire a Backend Developer
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/hire/backend-developer

Hire Dilawar Khan as a backend developer for APIs, databases, authentication and integrations built with Node.js, TypeScript, Supabase and MongoDB. One backend can serve a website, a mobile app and a desktop app at the same time.

Can build:
- REST APIs for web and mobile apps
- Database design with PostgreSQL (Supabase) or MongoDB
- Authentication, user roles and permissions
- Payment, email, SMS and third-party API integrations
- Background jobs, webhooks and scheduled tasks

Skills: Node.js, TypeScript, Supabase, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, REST APIs

Q: What does a backend developer do?
A: A backend developer builds the server side of an application: the database, the API, user authentication, business rules and integrations with other services.

Q: Should I use Supabase or a custom Node.js backend?
A: Supabase is fast to start with and covers database, authentication and file storage out of the box. A custom Node.js backend gives more control over complex business logic. Many projects use both.

### Hire a Mobile App Developer
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/hire/mobile-app-developer

Hire Dilawar Khan to build a mobile app for Android and iOS. Apps are built with React Native, so one codebase runs on both platforms, with a backend and admin panel included when the app needs them.

Can build:
- Marketplace and ordering apps
- Booking and service apps
- Companion apps for an existing website or SaaS product
- Internal apps for field teams and staff
- Publishing to Google Play and the App Store

Skills: React Native, TypeScript, Node.js, Supabase, MongoDB

Q: How long does it take to build a mobile app?
A: It depends on the number of screens, features and integrations. After a first conversation you get a timeline broken into milestones. A focused first version is the fastest way to launch and learn from real users.

Q: Can you publish my app on Google Play and the App Store?
A: Yes. Publishing support covers store listings, release builds and screenshots, and responding to review feedback from Google and Apple.

### Hire a React Native Developer
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/hire/react-native-developer

Hire Dilawar Khan as a React Native developer to build cross-platform Android and iOS apps from a single TypeScript codebase, with shared logic, native components and one team maintaining both platforms.

Can build:
- New React Native apps from scratch
- New features for an existing React Native app
- Connecting apps to REST APIs, Supabase and push notifications
- Bringing features from a web app into a mobile app
- Performance fixes and dependency upgrades

Skills: React Native, TypeScript, React, Node.js, Supabase

Q: Is React Native good for production apps?
A: Yes. React Native renders native components and is used in production by companies of every size. One codebase serves both Android and iOS.

Q: Can a React Native app share code with a React website?
A: Yes. Business logic, types and API code can be shared between a React Native app and a React or Next.js website, which reduces duplicate work.

### Hire a Desktop App Developer
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/hire/desktop-app-developer

Hire Dilawar Khan to build desktop software for Windows, macOS and Linux. Desktop apps are built with Electron.js, React and TypeScript, can work fully offline, and ship with installers and auto-updates.

Can build:
- Offline-first business software such as stock, billing and ledger systems
- Desktop front ends for hardware, simulation and engineering tools
- Internal tools that need local file or device access
- Turning an existing web app into an installable desktop app
- Installers and auto-updates

Skills: Electron.js, React, TypeScript, Node.js

Q: Which operating systems can a desktop app support?
A: An Electron.js app runs on Windows, macOS and Linux from one codebase, with an installer built for each platform.

Q: Can an existing web app become a desktop app?
A: Often, yes. A React web app can be wrapped in Electron.js and extended with desktop features such as offline storage, file access and system notifications.

### Hire an Electron.js Developer
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/hire/electron-developer

Hire Dilawar Khan as an Electron.js developer to build cross-platform desktop apps with web technologies. He has built Electron software for an autonomous-vehicle testing and simulation platform, along with offline business tools.

Can build:
- New Electron apps with React and TypeScript
- Secure communication between the main and renderer processes
- Local databases and offline sync
- Native menus, tray icons, notifications and file system access
- Packaging, installers and auto-updates

Skills: Electron.js, React, TypeScript, Node.js

Q: What is Electron.js used for?
A: Electron.js is a framework for building desktop applications with JavaScript, HTML and CSS. Well-known apps such as Visual Studio Code, Slack and Discord are built with it.

Q: Are Electron apps secure?
A: They are when they follow Electron's security guidelines: context isolation, a minimal preload bridge, no remote code execution and validated messages between processes.

### Hire a Next.js Developer
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/hire/nextjs-developer

Hire Dilawar Khan as a Next.js developer for fast, search-friendly websites and web apps. He builds with the Next.js App Router, React Server Components and TypeScript, with SEO and structured data built in from the start.

Can build:
- Company and marketing websites built to rank
- E-commerce storefronts
- SaaS apps and dashboards
- Migrations from WordPress, plain React or older Next.js versions
- Performance and Core Web Vitals improvements

Skills: Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Supabase, Technical SEO

Q: Why choose Next.js for a website?
A: Next.js renders pages on the server, so they load fast and search engines and AI crawlers can read the content without running JavaScript. Routing, images and metadata are handled out of the box.

Q: Can my site be migrated from WordPress to Next.js?
A: Yes. Content, URLs and SEO settings are moved across, with redirects from old URLs, so search rankings are protected during the switch.

### Hire a React Developer
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/hire/react-developer

Hire Dilawar Khan as a React developer for interactive web interfaces, dashboards and single-page apps written in TypeScript, using modern React patterns and a clean component structure.

Can build:
- Interactive dashboards and admin panels
- Single-page apps and customer portals
- Reusable component libraries
- Refactoring and upgrading older React codebases
- React frontends for an existing API

Skills: React, TypeScript, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui, React Native

Q: What is the difference between React and Next.js?
A: React is a library for building user interfaces. Next.js is a framework built on React that adds server rendering, routing and SEO features, which makes it a better fit for public websites.

Q: Can you take over an existing React project?
A: Yes. Work starts with a code review to understand the structure, then improvements and new features are delivered in small, reviewable steps.

### Hire a UI/UX Engineer
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/hire/ui-ux-engineer

Hire Dilawar Khan as a UI/UX engineer who both designs the interface and builds it in code. Layouts, components and interactions are designed for clarity, then shipped in React with Tailwind CSS and shadcn/ui, so the final product matches the design.

Can build:
- UX review of an existing product, with fixes
- Interface design for web and mobile apps
- Design systems and component libraries
- Responsive layouts for mobile, tablet and desktop
- Accessibility improvements: keyboard use, contrast and screen readers

Skills: Figma, React, Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui, Framer Motion

Q: What is a UI/UX engineer?
A: A UI/UX engineer combines interface design with frontend development. Instead of handing off static mockups, they design and build the interface, which closes the gap between design and the shipped product.

Q: Is the design done in Figma first?
A: When a project needs it, yes. For many products, design happens directly with real components, so decisions are tested in the browser from day one.

### Hire an AI Automation Developer
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/hire/ai-automation-developer

Hire Dilawar Khan as an AI automation developer to build AI chatbots, AI agents and LLM-powered features that connect models such as GPT and Claude to your own data and tools, so routine work gets done automatically.

Can build:
- Customer support chatbots that answer from your own documents and FAQs
- AI agents that update your CRM, draft emails and book meetings
- Search and question answering over company documents (RAG)
- AI features inside existing web and mobile apps
- Data extraction from invoices, forms and PDFs

Skills: OpenAI API, Claude API, Vercel AI SDK, Node.js, Next.js, Supabase

Q: What does an AI automation developer do?
A: An AI automation developer connects AI models to real business processes: they design the workflow, give the model the right data and tools, add safety checks and plug the result into the apps a team already uses.

Q: Is business data safe with AI automation?
A: It can be. A safe setup sends only the data a task needs, uses AI providers with clear data-handling terms, and requires human approval before sensitive actions run.

Q: Where should a business start with AI automation?
A: Pick one repetitive task that costs your team time every week and automate that first. A small, measurable win is the best way to decide what to automate next.

### Hire a Workflow Automation Engineer
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/hire/automation-engineer

Hire Dilawar Khan as a workflow automation engineer to connect your apps and remove manual work: syncing data between tools, sending notifications, generating reports and running scheduled jobs, with or without AI.

Can build:
- Workflows between CRMs, spreadsheets, email and WhatsApp
- No-code workflows in n8n, and custom Node.js automations when no-code falls short
- Webhooks and API integrations between business systems
- Scheduled reports and data syncs
- Lead capture and follow-up automation

Skills: n8n, Node.js, TypeScript, REST APIs, Supabase

Q: What is workflow automation?
A: Workflow automation means software runs a repeatable sequence of steps for you, such as copying a new lead from a form into a CRM, notifying the sales team and sending a welcome email.

Q: No-code tools or custom code: which is better for automation?
A: No-code tools are quick for simple flows. Custom code in Node.js is better when a workflow needs complex logic, high volume, careful error handling or an integration with no ready-made connector.

### How hiring works
1. Share your project: Send a short note on what you want to build, who it is for and when you need it, through the contact page or by email.
2. Get a plan: You get a reply with questions, a suggested approach and technology, a timeline broken into milestones, and a quote.
3. Build in milestones: Work ships in small milestones you can review and test, with regular updates, so there are no surprises at the end.
4. Launch and support: The product goes live, code and accounts are handed over to you, and ongoing support is available if you need it.

### Ways to work together
- Fixed-scope project: Scope, timeline and price agreed upfront. Best for websites, MVPs and clearly defined apps.
- Ongoing monthly work: A set amount of development each month. Best for growing products that need steady improvements.
- Dedicated developer: A developer from the DevKey Tech team working on your product part-time or full-time, reporting to you.

### Website Redesign & Migration
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/web-development/redesign-migration
Redesigns and migrations are SEO projects first: every URL mapped, every ranking page preserved, then a faster, cleaner site. We have moved WordPress, Wix and old custom sites to Next.js and improved search visibility in the process.
- WordPress to Next.js Migration (https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/web-development/redesign-migration/wordpress-to-nextjs): Faster, safer, cheaper to host, same URLs.

### Platform-Specific Web Development
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/web-development/platform-specific

## Hire by country
### Australia
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/hire/developers-for/australia
Australia is DevKey Technologies' longest-running export market: an accounting firm and an NDIS disability-support provider in Melbourne are published clients. The time difference works in Australia's favour: the Pakistan working day starts as the Australian afternoon begins, so questions asked in the Australian morning are answered the same day and work lands overnight.
Working: Demos and calls are scheduled in the Australian afternoon (Pakistan morning). Written updates go out at the end of the Pakistan day, which is the Australian evening, so each morning starts with progress to review.
Payments: Invoices in AUD or USD by international bank transfer, Wise or Payoneer. DevKey Technologies is a Pakistani company, so Australian GST is not charged; check with your accountant how overseas software services are treated for your business.
Q: Can an Australian business hire a developer in Pakistan?
A: Yes. There is no restriction on Australian businesses contracting overseas developers. Work is done under a services agreement with Australian-friendly terms: IP assigned to you, confidentiality, and a fixed scope or monthly rate in AUD or USD.
Q: What is the time difference between Australia and Pakistan?
A: Sydney and Melbourne are 5 hours ahead of Islamabad in winter and 6 hours ahead during daylight saving; Perth is 3 hours ahead. That gives roughly four to five hours of overlap each afternoon on the Australian side.
Q: Do you have Australian clients?
A: Yes. Published clients include an accounting firm (Accounts Bridge, website redesign) and an NDIS disability-support provider in Melbourne. Both are on the projects page.
Q: How do NDIS or compliance-heavy Australian businesses work with an overseas developer?
A: With written data-handling rules: where data is hosted (usually an Australian region on AWS, Vercel or Supabase), who has access, and what is logged. These are set out before work starts.

### United States
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/hire/developers-for/usa
The United States is one of the three markets DevKey Technologies lists as served. The US morning overlaps the Pakistan evening, which suits product teams that want a daily stand-up at the start of their day and finished work waiting the next morning. Rates are a fraction of US hiring costs, but the real reason US teams keep working with the team is written scope and predictable delivery.
Working: A standing call in the US morning (Pakistan evening, 7–9pm) for the East Coast; for the West Coast the overlap is early US morning, so most communication is asynchronous in writing with a weekly demo. The team works in your tools: GitHub, Linear or Jira, Slack.
Payments: Invoices in USD by international bank transfer (SWIFT), Wise or Payoneer. US clients typically collect a W-8BEN-E form from the company for their records; it is provided on request.
Q: Is it legal for a US company to hire a developer in Pakistan?
A: Yes. US companies contract overseas developers routinely. The relationship is a vendor contract, not employment, so there is no US payroll; the company provides a W-8BEN-E for your records.
Q: What is the time difference between the US and Pakistan?
A: Islamabad is 10 hours ahead of New York and 13 hours ahead of Los Angeles (one hour less during US daylight saving). Overlap is the US morning and Pakistan evening, which works well for daily check-ins.
Q: How do you handle IP and confidentiality for US clients?
A: A services agreement assigns all IP in the deliverables to you and includes confidentiality terms; an NDA can be signed before any detail is shared. Code lives in your repositories from day one.
Q: Can you work US hours?
A: Partial US hours, yes: the team routinely holds calls in the Pakistan evening for US mornings. Full US daytime coverage is not offered, because overnight work produces worse software.

### Canada
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/hire/developers-for/canada
SpidNums, a multi-tenant practice-management SaaS for Canadian accounting firms, was built by the team: CRM, deadline tracking, task management and e-signatures. That project is the template for how Canadian product work runs: a standing morning call in Toronto, asynchronous updates, and a security model (roles, audit trail, data isolation per firm) agreed before the first screen was built.
Working: Calls in the Canadian morning (Pakistan evening). Sprint demos every two weeks, recorded so anyone who misses the call can watch. Canadian data residency can be met by hosting in a Canadian cloud region.
Payments: Invoices in CAD or USD by international bank transfer, Wise or Payoneer. No Canadian sales tax is charged by a foreign supplier; your accountant can confirm how it is treated on your side.
Q: Have you built software for Canadian clients?
A: Yes. SpidNums is a cloud practice-management SaaS for accounting firms in Canada, built as a multi-tenant product with CRM, deadlines, tasks and e-signatures. It is written up as a case study.
Q: What is the time difference between Canada and Pakistan?
A: Islamabad is 10 hours ahead of Toronto and 13 hours ahead of Vancouver (one hour less during daylight saving). The Canadian morning is the Pakistan evening, which is when calls are held.
Q: Can client data stay in Canada?
A: Yes. Applications can be hosted in Canadian regions of AWS, Google Cloud or Supabase so data at rest stays in Canada. This is agreed in the proposal when it matters.

### United Kingdom
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/hire/developers-for/united-kingdom
The UK has the best time-zone fit of any Western market: London is five hours behind Islamabad (four in British summer time), so the whole UK morning and early afternoon overlap the Pakistan working day. No UK client is published yet, which is said plainly here; the process, contracts and references are the same ones used for Australian, Canadian and US clients.
Working: Calls any time in the UK morning or early afternoon. Same-day turnaround on questions. UK agencies usually use the white-label model: the agency owns the client and the brand, the team delivers.
Payments: Invoices in GBP or USD by international bank transfer, Wise or Payoneer. A foreign supplier does not charge UK VAT; reverse-charge rules may apply on your side, which your accountant can confirm.
Q: Do you have UK clients?
A: Not yet published. Published clients are in Pakistan, Australia, the United States, Canada and South Africa. UK enquiries are welcome and start the same way: a short call, then a small paid trial scope.
Q: What is the time difference between the UK and Pakistan?
A: Islamabad is 5 hours ahead of London in winter and 4 hours ahead in British summer time. That gives five or six hours of overlap every working day, the most of any Western market.
Q: Can a UK agency white-label your work?
A: Yes. The agency keeps the client relationship and brand; the team delivers under NDA. See the outsourcing page for how white-label delivery is set up.

### UAE
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/hire/developers-for/uae
Dubai is one hour behind Islamabad, a two-hour flight away, and home to a large Pakistani business community, so working with the team feels local: same working day, Urdu or English on calls, and experience with the trading, wholesale and marketplace businesses common in the Gulf. No UAE client is published yet; the closest published work is B2B and marketplace platforms built for Pakistani traders.
Working: Full working-day overlap. Calls in English or Urdu. In-person meetings in Dubai can be arranged for larger projects.
Payments: Invoices in AED or USD by international bank transfer or Wise. The company is based in Pakistan, so UAE VAT is not charged; your accountant can confirm treatment on the UAE side.
Q: Do you work with businesses in Dubai and the UAE?
A: UAE enquiries are welcome; no UAE client is published yet. The working day fully overlaps, calls can be in Urdu or English, and the most relevant published work is B2B wholesale and marketplace platforms.
Q: What is the time difference between the UAE and Pakistan?
A: One hour. Islamabad is UTC+5 and Dubai is UTC+4, so the entire working day overlaps.
Q: Can you build a WhatsApp-based ordering system for a UAE trading business?
A: Yes. WhatsApp ordering, B2B catalogues and bulk-order flows are a regular part of the team's work for traders and wholesalers in Pakistan, and the same patterns apply in the Gulf.

### South Africa
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/hire/developers-for/south-africa
Hussein Traders CC, a South African B2B wholesale trading company, is a published client. South Africa is three hours behind Islamabad, so most of the working day overlaps, and the team's experience with wholesale and trading platforms maps directly onto South African importers and distributors.
Working: Calls any time in the South African morning or early afternoon. Same-day replies. Written scope and milestone demos, as with every client.
Payments: Invoices in USD (ZAR on request) by international bank transfer or Wise.
Q: Have you worked with South African businesses?
A: Yes. Hussein Traders CC, a B2B wholesale trading company, is a published client (web presence built with Next.js and React).
Q: What is the time difference between South Africa and Pakistan?
A: Three hours. South Africa is UTC+2 and Islamabad is UTC+5, so the working days overlap from the South African morning until mid-afternoon.
Q: Can you build B2B ordering or wholesale platforms for a South African distributor?
A: Yes. KarobarEasy, a B2B wholesale platform used by 10,000+ retailers, is the most relevant case study: bulk ordering, tiered pricing and nationwide logistics.

### Pakistan
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/hire/developers-for/pakistan
Most of the team's published work is for Pakistani businesses: B2B wholesale, marketplaces, agriculture, fashion e-commerce, local services and offline desktop software for trades that run without reliable internet. The office is in H-15, Islamabad, with clients across the country served remotely. For city-level pages (Karachi, Lahore and 40+ more) see devkeytech.com/locations.
Working: Meetings in person in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, on WhatsApp or Google Meet elsewhere. Urdu or English. Pakistani payment flows (cash on delivery, JazzCash, Easypaisa, bank transfer, local gateways) are standard in the team's e-commerce work.
Payments: Invoices in PKR by bank transfer, JazzCash or Easypaisa. Fixed-scope proposals after a free discovery call.
Q: Where is Dilawar Khan's office?
A: Near Haji-Noor-Zamaan Autos, H-15, Islamabad. Clients across Pakistan are served remotely, with in-person meetings in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Q: Do you build software for businesses outside Islamabad?
A: Yes. Published clients include businesses in Rawalpindi, Karachi and across Punjab and Sindh. The company site has pages for 40+ Pakistani cities.
Q: Can you integrate Pakistani payment methods?
A: Yes: cash on delivery, JazzCash, Easypaisa, bank transfer and local card gateways are regular parts of e-commerce and marketplace projects.

## Outsourcing and partnerships
You can outsource web, mobile, desktop and AI development to DevKey Technologies, the Islamabad software house founded by Dilawar Khan in 2021. Clients in Australia, the United States, Canada and South Africa already work with the team on white-label delivery, dedicated developers and fixed-scope projects, with one point of contact, written scope, two-week sprints and full code ownership on final payment.

Engagement models:
- White-label delivery (Agencies and consultancies): We build under your brand. Your client never needs to know who wrote the code. You handle the relationship; we handle the delivery, with your PM or ours.
- Dedicated developer or team (Product companies and startups): One or more developers from the team work on your product part-time or full-time, in your tools (Slack, Jira, GitHub), reporting to you, billed monthly.
- Fixed-scope project (Businesses with a defined need): Scope, timeline and price agreed upfront after a free discovery call. Milestone demos every two weeks. Best for websites, MVPs and clearly defined apps.
- Overflow and rescue work (Teams that are stuck or behind): Short engagements to unblock a project: a feature nobody has time for, a codebase that needs a review, a launch that needs more hands.

Q: Why outsource software development to Pakistan?
A: Pakistan has a large pool of English-speaking engineers, rates well below Australia, the US and Western Europe, and a time zone that overlaps Asia-Pacific, Europe and the US morning. The risk is quality variance, which is why a trial scope and references matter more than the hourly rate.

Q: How does white-label development work?
A: Your agency sells and manages the project; DevKey Technologies builds it under your brand. Deliverables carry your name, communication can run through your tools, and an NDA covers the arrangement.

Q: What time zone overlap can I expect?
A: Islamabad is UTC+5. That gives a full-morning overlap with Australia, most of the working day with Europe and the UK, and early-morning overlap with the US East Coast. Demos are scheduled inside the overlap; everything else runs asynchronously in writing.

Q: Who owns the code?
A: You do. Code, repositories, accounts and infrastructure are transferred on final payment. This is the standard DevKey Technologies term, not an add-on.

Q: How are payments handled from abroad?
A: International bank transfer (SWIFT), Wise and Payoneer are accepted. Invoices can be issued in USD, AUD, CAD or GBP.

Q: Can I start with a small project?
A: Yes, and you should. A paid trial scope of one to two weeks is the normal first step.

DevKey Technologies works with partners in four ways: agencies that need a delivery partner, specialist vendors and freelancers who want subcontracted work, referral partners who introduce clients, and tool or platform companies that want an implementation partner in Pakistan. Each starts with a short call and a written agreement.

## Pricing
Pricing is a fixed-scope proposal after a free discovery call, not a rate card. Typical timelines: an MVP in 4–8 weeks, a full custom platform in 12–20 weeks. Ongoing work runs as a monthly retainer or a dedicated developer billed monthly. Every quote lists what is included, the milestones, and what happens if scope changes.

Typical timelines:
- Business website: 2–4 weeks
- MVP web or mobile app: 4–8 weeks
- Full custom platform: 12–20 weeks
- AI chatbot or automation: 2–6 weeks
- Desktop application: 6–12 weeks

Q: How much does it cost to build an app with Dilawar Khan's team?
A: It depends on screens, platforms, integrations and AI features, so every project gets a fixed-scope proposal after a free discovery call rather than a price from a list. The proposal lists exactly what is included and the milestones.

Q: Do you charge hourly or fixed price?
A: Fixed price for defined projects, monthly for retainers and dedicated developers. Hourly billing is avoided because it rewards slow work.

Q: Is the discovery call free?
A: Yes. The first call and the written questions after it are free. A paid discovery sprint is only suggested when the solution itself needs designing before it can be quoted.

Q: What payment methods do you accept?
A: International bank transfer, Wise and Payoneer for clients abroad; bank transfer and local methods in Pakistan. Invoices can be issued in USD, AUD, CAD, GBP or PKR.

## Case studies
### KarobarEasy (B2B marketplace: web + mobile, Pakistan)
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/case-studies/karobareasy-b2b-wholesale-marketplace
Problem: Wholesalers were taking orders over phone calls and WhatsApp messages, with no live stock, no order history and pricing that changed by customer. Retailers outside the big cities had no reliable way to buy at wholesale rates.
Approach: Mapped the real ordering flow with the wholesaler first: tiered pricing, minimum quantities, credit terms and nationwide logistics. Built one backend (Node.js, MongoDB) serving a React Native app for retailers and a web admin for the wholesaler's team. Shipped a focused first version in two-week sprints: catalogue, bulk cart, order tracking. Added inventory and logistics integrations after real orders came in. Kept the app usable on low-end Android phones and patchy connections, which is where most retailers are.
Result: 10,000+ retailers ordering on the platform (figure published on devkeytech.com).
Lessons: In B2B, the admin side decides whether the product survives. The retailer app is the easy half. Pricing rules are the real spec. Get them in writing before writing code.

### Parwaz Mart (Multi-vendor marketplace, Pakistan)
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/case-studies/parwaz-mart-multi-vendor-marketplace
Problem: Small sellers wanted an online storefront without building their own site, and the marketplace owner needed vendor onboarding, commissions and payouts to run without manual spreadsheets.
Approach: Designed the data model around vendors first: storefront, catalogue, orders, commission and payout per vendor. Built the storefront with Next.js for speed and search visibility, so each vendor and product page can rank on its own. Added cash on delivery alongside card payments, which is still how most Pakistani buyers pay. Automated commission calculation and payout reports so the operator's team spends time on sellers, not sums.
Result: 1,000+ sellers on the marketplace (figure published on devkeytech.com).
Lessons: Marketplaces live or die on seller onboarding. A seller should be live in minutes, not days. Server-rendered product pages are free marketing: every listing is a landing page.

### Kamiyab Kisaan (Farm-to-buyer marketplace app, Pakistan)
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/case-studies/kamiyab-kisaan-agriculture-marketplace
Problem: Farmers sold through middlemen at prices they could not check, and useful information (weather, logistics, subsidy schemes) was scattered across sources most of them never reached.
Approach: Built the app in React Native with a multilingual, low-literacy-friendly interface: large touch targets, icons and Urdu alongside English. Kept the first release to listings, offers and direct contact, then added weather and scheme information once farmers were active. Designed for offline-first use so listings and prices stay readable when the connection drops.
Result: 5,000+ farmers using the platform (figure published on devkeytech.com).
Lessons: If users are not fluent readers, the interface has to be the manual. Test with real users early. Connectivity is a feature decision, not an afterthought.

### SpidNums (Multi-tenant SaaS, Canada)
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/case-studies/spidnums-practice-management-saas-canada
Problem: Accounting firms were tracking client deadlines and tasks across spreadsheets and email, missing filing dates and chasing signatures manually.
Approach: Multi-tenant architecture from day one so each firm's data is isolated and new firms onboard without new infrastructure. Role-based access for partners, staff and clients, with an audit trail for anything touching deadlines or documents. Worked across the Pakistan–Canada time difference with overlapping hours for demos and async updates in between, with one point of contact.
Result: Live SaaS product serving accounting firms in Canada (no usage figures published).
Lessons: For regulated clients, the audit trail and permissions are the product. Build them before the pretty dashboard. Remote delivery across time zones works when demos are scheduled and updates are written, not when everything is a call.

### Accounts Bridge (Website redesign, Australia)
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/case-studies/accounts-bridge-website-redesign-australia
Problem: The existing site looked dated, loaded slowly and did not reflect the firm's services or make it easy for prospects to get in touch.
Approach: Redesigned around the firm's services and enquiry paths, with a green and yellow brand palette applied consistently. Rebuilt in Next.js with server-rendered pages, structured data and clean metadata so the redesign improved search visibility instead of risking it. Preserved existing URLs with redirects so no rankings were lost in the switch.
Result: Redesigned site live for an Australian client (no traffic figures published).
Lessons: A redesign is an SEO migration. Map every old URL before touching the design. Australian clients value written scope and predictable hours; both are easy to give from Pakistan.

### ARTI Commission Shop (Offline-first desktop product, Pakistan)
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/case-studies/arti-commission-shop-offline-desktop-product
Problem: Commission agents in grain markets keep complex ledgers by hand: commissions, advances, direct deals and settlements, in Urdu, often with no reliable internet in the market.
Approach: Built with Electron.js, React and TypeScript, with a local database so the ledger works with no connection at all. Money handled as integers to the paisa; direct deals recorded as all-or-nothing transactions so a half-saved deal can never exist. Urdu-first right-to-left interface with Nastaliq type and Urdu receipts on thermal printers.
Result: Shipped as a DevKey Technologies product (devkeytech.com/products/arti-commission-shop).
Lessons: Zero-to-one products come from a real problem you have watched up close, not a market report. Offline-first is not a limitation; for many Pakistani businesses it is the requirement.

## Comparisons
### In-House Developer vs Outsourcing to Pakistan
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/compare/in-house-vs-outsourcing-to-pakistan
Hire in-house when you need someone in the room every day for years and can afford a local salary, recruitment and management time. Outsource to a senior team in Pakistan when you need a product built or a team extended quickly, at a fraction of local cost, with written scope and a trial period as the safeguard. Many companies do both: a small in-house core and an outsourced delivery team.
- You have a product team and need one more person for years: In-house
- You need an MVP or app built in weeks: Outsource, fixed scope
- Your team needs capacity for 6–12 months: Outsource, dedicated developer
- You are an agency reselling development: Outsource, white-label
- The work needs physical presence or on-site hardware: In-house or local
Q: Is outsourcing to Pakistan cheaper than hiring in-house in Australia or the US?
A: Yes, usually by a wide margin once salary, taxes, equipment and recruitment are counted. The saving is real but it is the second reason to outsource; the first is getting a senior team started in days instead of months.
Q: What is the biggest risk of outsourcing?
A: Choosing on price alone. The safeguards are a paid trial scope, references with live work, code in your own repositories and a contract with IP assignment and an exit clause.

### Fixed Scope vs Hourly vs Retainer: Which Pricing Model Fits
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/compare/fixed-scope-vs-hourly-vs-retainer
Fixed scope fits a defined deliverable: you pay for an outcome and the vendor carries the estimating risk. A retainer fits a live product with a steady stream of changes: you buy a set amount of time each month. Hourly fits almost nothing well, because it rewards slow work and makes every invoice a surprise; a capped discovery sprint covers the one case (unknown scope) that hourly was meant for.
- You can describe what done looks like: Fixed scope
- Your product is live and keeps changing: Retainer
- You do not know the scope yet: Paid discovery sprint, then fixed scope
- You need a person inside your team: Dedicated developer (monthly)
Q: Why don't you bill hourly?
A: Because it puts the client and the developer on opposite sides of every decision: the client wants fewer hours, the developer is paid for more. Fixed scope with change control gives the client a predictable price and the vendor a reason to be efficient.
Q: What happens if a fixed-scope project runs over?
A: If the scope has not changed, that is the vendor's cost. If the client added scope, it was quoted before being built. The written scope is what makes this fair in both directions.

### Web App vs Mobile App vs Desktop App: What to Build First
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/compare/web-app-vs-mobile-app-vs-desktop-app
Build a web app first unless you have a specific reason not to: it reaches every device, needs no app-store approval and is the cheapest to change. Build a mobile app when users are on their phones in the field, need push notifications, the camera or offline use. Build a desktop app when the software must run without internet, talk to local hardware or printers, or live on a shop or clinic PC all day. Many products start as a web app and add mobile later from the same backend.
- Users sit at a desk or browse on any device: Web app
- Users are on their phones, in the field or need push notifications: Mobile app
- Software must work with no internet or with local hardware: Desktop app
- Unsure: Web app first, shared backend, add mobile when users ask
Q: Can one backend serve a web app, a mobile app and a desktop app?
A: Yes. A Node.js or Supabase backend with a REST API can serve all three; that is how most of our multi-platform projects are built.
Q: Is a progressive web app a substitute for a mobile app?
A: Often, yes, for ordering and booking flows. It falls short when you need reliable push notifications on iOS, deep device access or an app-store presence.

## Glossary
- White-label development: A software project that an agency sells and manages under its own brand while a separate team builds it. The client deals only with the agency.
- Dedicated developer: A named developer who works on one client's product for an agreed share of their time each month, in the client's tools and reporting to the client, billed monthly.
- Fixed-scope project: An engagement where the deliverables, timeline and price are agreed in writing before work starts and paid against milestones. Changes are quoted separately.
- Retainer: A monthly agreement for a set amount of development time, prioritised with the client, used for live products that need steady improvement.
- Discovery sprint: A short paid engagement that turns an idea into a scope, screens, a data model and a fixed quote, so the project can be priced accurately or taken to another vendor.
- MVP (minimum viable product): The smallest version of a product that real users can use and pay for, built to learn what to build next. Typically 4–8 weeks with our team.
- Full-stack developer: A developer who builds both the frontend users see and the backend that stores data and runs business logic.
- Frontend: The part of a website or app that runs in the user's browser or on their device: layouts, forms, navigation and interaction.
- Backend: The server side of an application: database, API, authentication, business rules and integrations with other services.
- React Native: A framework for building Android and iOS apps from one JavaScript/TypeScript codebase that renders native components.
- Electron.js: A framework for building Windows, macOS and Linux desktop applications with web technologies. Used for VS Code, Slack and Discord.
- Next.js: A React framework that renders pages on the server, so sites load fast and search engines and AI crawlers can read the content without running JavaScript.
- Offline-first software: Software designed to work fully without an internet connection, storing data locally and syncing when a connection is available. Common for Pakistani businesses with unreliable connectivity.
- AI agent: Software that uses a language model to decide and take actions in other tools (update a CRM, send an email, book a meeting), usually with rules and human approval steps.
- AI chatbot: An assistant that answers questions from a business's own content using a language model. Unlike an agent, it answers but does not take actions.
- RAG (retrieval-augmented generation): A technique where relevant documents are retrieved and given to a language model before it answers, so the answer is grounded in the business's own data.
- Workflow automation: Software that runs a repeatable sequence of steps automatically, such as copying a new lead into a CRM, notifying sales and sending a welcome message.
- llms.txt: A plain-text file at a website's root that summarises the site and links its key pages for AI assistants and crawlers. This site serves one at /llms.txt.
- AEO (answer engine optimization): Structuring web content so AI assistants and search features can extract direct answers from it: question headings, short answers, FAQ schema, consistent facts.
- GEO (generative engine optimization): Making a website readable, trustworthy and citable by generative AI search such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, through entity data, crawler access and consistent facts across the web.
- IP assignment: A contract clause transferring ownership of code and designs to the client. Standard in DevKey Technologies agreements: ownership transfers on final payment.
- NDA (non-disclosure agreement): A contract keeping a client's information confidential, signed before project details are shared. Also covers white-label arrangements.
- Time-zone overlap: The hours when both the client's and the team's working days are running. Islamabad (UTC+5) overlaps the UK and Gulf for most of the day, Australia in its afternoon, and North America in its morning.
- W-8BEN-E: A US tax form a foreign company gives its US clients to confirm it is not a US taxpayer. US clients routinely request it from overseas vendors.

### How to Hire a Developer from Pakistan: A Checklist
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/blog/how-to-hire-a-developer-from-pakistan
Published: 2026-10-13

I run a software company in Islamabad and most of our clients are abroad: Australia, the United States, Canada, South Africa. Over five years I have watched businesses hire well and hire badly from Pakistan, and the difference was never the hourly rate. It was the checks they did in the first two weeks. This is the checklist I would give a friend in Sydney or Toronto who asked me how to do it. 1. Look at shipped work, not profiles A profile tells you what someone says. A live product tells you what they finished. Ask for three things that are actually online, and then use them: open the site on your phone, place a test order, look at how it handles an error. If the developer has a company site, read their case studies and check whether the numbers in them are the same as the numbers on the client's own site. On our side, we publish the portfolio on devkeytech.com https://devkeytech.com/portfolio and write up the lessons on the case studies page /case studies . If a developer cannot point to anything live, treat that as the answer. 2. Speak to one reference, and ask one question You do not need five references. One honest conversation is enough if you ask the right question: "What went wrong, and how did they handle it?" Every project has a bad week. A reference who says "nothing went wrong" was not paying attention; a reference who describes a problem and a sensible fix is telling you what you need to know. 3. Start with a paid trial scope Never start with the whole project. Pick a piece that takes one to two weeks, pay for it at the normal rate, and treat it as the interview. You learn how they ask questions, how they estimate, whether the demo matches the promise, and how they write. We insist on this ourselves; it protects both sides. 4. Get the contract right Four things belong in writing before any real work starts: IP assignment. All code and designs belong to you. Not "licensed", assigned. Confidentiality. An NDA or a confidentiality clause in the services agreement. Scope and change control. What is included, and that changes are quoted before they are built. Exit. How either side can stop, and what gets handed over when they do. Keep the code in your GitHub or GitLab organisation from day one. If the developer owns the repository, you have a problem the moment the relationship ends. 5. Agree how payments work International bank transfer, Wise and Payoneer all work from Australia, the US, the UK and Canada to Pakistan. Decide the currency, the milestone schedule and what triggers each payment a demo you have accepted, not a date on a calendar . US clients usually ask the vendor for a W 8BEN E form for their records; any established company can provide one. 6. Decide how the time zone will be used Islamabad is UTC+5. For Australia that means your afternoon is our morning. For the UK it is most of your day. For the US it is your morning and our evening. None of these are a problem if you decide up front when the live call happens and accept that everything else is written. The worst outsourcing relationships I have seen are the ones that tried to run on calls at odd hours for both sides. We publish the exact overlap for each country on the hire by country pages /hire/developers for . 7. Ask who actually does the work Agencies sometimes sell you a senior person and staff the project with juniors. Ask directly: who will write the code, and will I talk to them? At DevKey we are a small senior team and the answer is yes, you will. What this looks like in practice A typical first month with a client abroad: an intro call, a written list of questions, a one to two week paid trial, a demo, then a fixed scope proposal for the real project with milestones. If the trial goes badly, you have lost two weeks and a small invoice. If it goes well, you have a team. If you want to try it, the contact page /contact is the starting point, or message me on WhatsApp.

Q: Is it safe to hire a developer from Pakistan?
A: Yes, with the same diligence you would apply anywhere: check shipped work, speak to a reference, start with a small paid scope, and sign a contract that assigns IP to you and keeps the code in your repositories.

Q: How do I pay a developer in Pakistan?
A: International bank transfer, Wise and Payoneer are the common routes. Agree the currency and the milestone schedule in the contract so there is no ambiguity.

### White-Label Development: How Agencies Work with Us
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/blog/white-label-development-for-agencies
Published: 2026-10-12

Half of the agency conversations I have start the same way: "We have a client who needs an app, we do not have developers, and we do not want to say no." White label delivery is the answer to that, and it works well when the handoffs are clear. Here is how we run it. The shape of it Three parties: your client, your agency, and our team. Your client only ever sees you. You own the relationship, the brand, the invoice and the credit. We build the thing, under a non disclosure agreement, and we never contact your client directly unless you want a developer in the room. Who talks to whom This is the first thing to settle, because it decides whether the project is smooth or painful. Your project manager runs the client. Requirements, expectations, timelines, invoices. One person on our side runs the build. Usually me or a lead developer. Your PM talks to that one person. Optional: a developer in client meetings. Some agencies want us on technical calls, introduced as part of their team. That works fine; we just need to know the ground rules. What does not work: the client messaging our developers directly with changes nobody has scoped. Everything goes through your PM. Brand and deliverables Designs, documents, demo environments and repositories can all carry your name. We work in your tools if you prefer Slack, Jira, Linear, GitHub, Figma or in ours with you invited. Code is committed to a repository your agency owns, which is also what protects you if the relationship with us ever ends. Pricing between us Two models, both simple: 1. Fixed scope. You send us the brief, we send you a fixed quote with milestones, you add your margin and quote the client. Changes are quoted to you before they are built. 2. Dedicated developer. A named developer for an agreed number of days per month, billed monthly. Better for agencies with a steady flow of smaller jobs. We do not take a percentage of your client fee and we do not need to know what you charge. Contracts An NDA covering the client's information and the existence of the arrangement; a services agreement that assigns all IP to your agency so you can assign it on to the client ; and a clause that we do not approach your clients. We sign this before seeing any client material. Where it goes wrong, and how to avoid it Scope agreed with the client before the developer saw it. Send us the brief before you price it. A thirty minute call saves a painful renegotiation. Silent weeks. We send written updates at the end of every sprint and demo every two weeks. If you are not getting that from a white label partner, ask why. Design handed over as a finished artefact. Involve the developer when the design is 70% done, not 100%. The last 30% is where feasibility questions live. Who this suits Design studios, marketing agencies, SEO agencies and consultancies in Australia, the UK, the US and Canada that keep saying no to development work. The UK in particular has an easy time zone overlap with Islamabad: most of your working day. If this describes you, the outsourcing page /outsourcing has the engagement models and the partners page /partners has the terms. A first conversation is thirty minutes.

Q: What does white-label development mean?
A: An agency sells and manages a software project under its own brand while a separate team builds it. The client deals with the agency; the development partner stays in the background under an NDA.

Q: Will my client know the work is outsourced?
A: Only if you tell them. Deliverables carry your name, communication runs through your channels, and the NDA covers the arrangement. Many agencies are open about it and clients rarely mind; that is your call.

### Why I Don't Bill Hourly: Fixed Scope and Retainers Instead
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/blog/why-i-dont-bill-hourly
Published: 2026-10-11

Early on I billed by the hour, like most freelancers. I stopped after a client asked me a fair question: "Why should I pay more because it took you longer?" I did not have a good answer. Five years later I still do not, so DevKey Technologies does not bill hourly. What hourly billing does to a project Hourly billing puts the client and the developer on opposite sides of every decision. The client wants fewer hours; the developer is paid for more of them. Nobody behaves badly on purpose, but the incentive leaks into everything: a bit less pressure to simplify, a bit more willingness to gold plate. It also makes every invoice a surprise, and clients who get surprised stop trusting the estimates that follow. The only thing hourly billing is good at is protecting the developer from vague scope. There is a better tool for that. Fixed scope, with a real discovery phase A fixed price only works if both sides know what is being built. So the first step is always discovery: a free call, then written questions, then if the solution itself needs designing a short paid discovery sprint that produces screens, a data model and a written scope. From that scope we quote one price, paid against milestones. Each milestone ends with a demo you accept before the next payment. If you ask for something outside the scope, we write it up and quote it before building it. That is the whole system, and it is boring in the best way: nobody is surprised by an invoice. We take the estimating risk. If we underestimate, that is our problem, and it makes us estimate carefully, which is the point. Retainers for products that are alive Once a product is live, fixed scope stops fitting. The work is a stream of improvements, bugs and small features, and nobody wants to write a proposal for each one. A monthly retainer covers it: an agreed number of development days each month, a shared priority list, demos as things ship, cancel with notice. Dedicated developers for teams that need capacity Some clients have their own product team and simply need more hands. For them a named developer, part time or full time, works inside their tools and reports to their lead. Billed monthly. It is the closest we get to hourly, and it works because the client is managing the work directly. When fixed price is wrong Honest list: Research style work where nobody can define the end state. Use a time boxed discovery sprint. Rescue work on a codebase nobody understands yet. Start with a paid review, then quote. Clients who change their mind weekly. A retainer absorbs that better than a fixed scope, and we will say so. What to ask any developer about pricing Whatever model they use, ask: what happens when scope changes, what triggers each payment, and what do I own at the end. Clear answers to those three questions matter more than the rate. Our answers are on the pricing page /pricing and the process page /process .

Q: Is fixed-price software development risky for the developer?
A: Only if the scope is vague. With a discovery phase, a written scope and change control, fixed price shifts the estimating risk to the people best placed to carry it: the developers.

Q: What if I don't know the scope yet?
A: Then a short paid discovery sprint comes first. It produces scope, screens, a data model and a fixed quote you can take anywhere, including to another developer.

### Zero to One in Islamabad: Lessons from Founding DevKey
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/blog/zero-to-one-lessons-from-founding-devkey-technologies
Published: 2026-10-10

In 2021 I was a web developer taking client work on my own. Five years later DevKey Technologies is a small senior team in Islamabad with 50+ projects shipped for clients in Pakistan, Australia, the United States, Canada and South Africa. This is the short version of what I learned going from zero to one, written for anyone in Pakistan thinking of doing the same. Start with one thing you can finish The first mistake I nearly made was offering everything. Web, mobile, desktop, design, marketing. The thing that actually got the company moving was finishing small websites fast and well for local businesses, and being easy to reach. Breadth came later, from the team, not from me. The lesson: your first product is your reliability. Pick a scope you can deliver on time, and deliver it on time, ten times. Clients abroad come from clients at home Our first Australian client did not come from a job board. It came from work done for a Pakistani business that someone's relative in Melbourne noticed. Local work builds the portfolio that overseas clients check. Do not skip it because the rates are lower. Write everything down The single biggest upgrade in how we work was moving from calls to writing: written scope, written questions, written sprint updates. It made remote clients comfortable, it made estimates better, and it made the team less dependent on me being awake. If you run a company across time zones, writing is the product. Hire senior or do not hire Early on it is tempting to hire juniors because they are cheap. They are not cheap; they are slow and they need someone senior watching them, which was me, which meant I stopped shipping. We now hire when a project pipeline needs people, and we hire people with shipped work. A small senior team beats a large junior one for the kind of clients we want. Build something you own Client work pays the bills and teaches you an industry. At some point take what you learned and build a product. For us that was ARTI Commission Shop /case studies/arti commission shop offline desktop product , an offline desktop ledger for grain market commission agents, and later Clinic Pharmacy. Neither came from a market report. They came from watching real people in Islamabad do their work by hand. Say no early The projects that hurt were the ones I knew were wrong on the first call and took anyway: vague scope, a client who wanted hourly billing with no end, a budget that did not match the ambition. Saying no in the first week costs nothing. Saying it in month three costs everyone. What I would repeat Finishing small things reliably. Writing everything down. Being on WhatsApp. Publishing the work. Building a product from a client problem. Hiring late and senior. What I would skip Offering every service on day one. Hourly billing. Hiring to look bigger. Spending on a nicer office before a better process. If you are starting a software company in Pakistan and want to compare notes, I share more of this on the DevKey Tech YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@DevKeyTech , in Urdu and English.

### Time Zones: Working from Pakistan with Australia, the US, the UK
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/blog/working-across-time-zones-pakistan-australia-us-uk
Published: 2026-10-09

Pakistan is UTC+5 and does not change its clocks. That one fact decides how every overseas project is organised. Here is the overlap with our main markets, assuming a 9am–6pm day on the client's side and a flexible 7am–8pm day in Islamabad. | Client city | Islamabad is | Overlap, client's local time | | | | | | London | 5h ahead 4h in BST | 9am–3pm 6h | | Sydney / Melbourne | 5h behind 6h in DST | 12pm–6pm 6h | | Perth | 3h behind | 10am–6pm 8h | | Dubai | 1h ahead | 9am–6pm 9h | | Johannesburg | 3h ahead | 9am–5pm 8h | | Toronto / New York | 10h ahead 9h in DST | 9am–10am 1h | | Los Angeles | 13h ahead 12h in DST | none live; async | The UK, the Gulf and South Africa are easy. Australia is good if you use the afternoon. North America needs a routine. The routine that works One scheduled call, same time every week or every day. For Australia it is their early afternoon. For the US East Coast it is their 9am, our 7pm. For the UK, anywhere in their morning. Everything else is written. Written updates at the end of the Islamabad day. When a client in Sydney or Toronto starts work, there is a note waiting: what shipped, what is blocked, what we need from them. This is worth more than any call. Recorded sprint demos. Every two weeks we demo what was built. We record it, so the client's colleagues who could not join can watch at lunch. A shared tracker. Linear, Jira or GitHub Projects, whatever the client uses. If a question is not in the tracker, it did not happen. Decisions have a deadline. When we ask the client something, we say when we need the answer to stay on schedule. Time zones add a day to every unanswered question; stating the deadline removes most of them. What we refuse to do Work overnight in Pakistan to cover US daytime. We tried it; the code was worse and the people were miserable. Clients who need full time coverage in Pacific time should hire in Pacific time. For everyone else, the morning call plus overnight progress is a feature: you ask in the morning, it is done when you wake up. For the client: three habits that help 1. Batch your questions into the written update rather than sending them as they occur to you. 2. Pick one person on your side who can make decisions; two decision makers in two time zones triples the delay. 3. Accept the demo as the unit of progress, not the daily message count. The per country details, including currencies and the clients we already serve in each market, are on the hire by country pages /hire/developers for .

Q: What is the time difference between Pakistan and Australia?
A: Sydney and Melbourne are 5 hours ahead of Islamabad in winter and 6 in daylight-saving time; Perth is 3 hours ahead. The Australian afternoon overlaps the Pakistan morning.

Q: Can a team in Pakistan work US hours?
A: Partly. The US morning is the Pakistan evening, so a daily call at the start of the US day is normal. Full US daytime coverage would mean overnight work, which produces worse software.

### Outsourcing Red Flags, From the Vendor's Side
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/blog/red-flags-when-outsourcing-software-development
Published: 2026-10-08

Most "red flags in outsourcing" lists are written for the client. This one is written by the vendor, which means it includes the flags we watch for in clients too. A bad engagement is bad for both sides, and most of them are visible in week one. Red flags in a development vendor No live work. Screenshots, mockups and "under NDA" for everything. Some work is confidential; all of it is not. Ask for three things you can open in a browser. A senior person sells, a junior person builds. Ask who will write the code and whether you will talk to them. If the answer changes after the contract is signed, you were sold a bench. No questions. A vendor who quotes from a one paragraph brief without asking anything is guessing. The quote will be wrong and the argument will come later. Hourly with no cap and no scope. It is not always a scam, but it is always a risk transfer onto you. Ask for a fixed scope or a capped discovery sprint first. The code lives in their repository. From the first commit, the repository should be in your organisation. If they resist, ask why. Silence between milestones. Written updates should arrive on a schedule you agreed. If you are chasing for status in week two, week ten will be worse. Every answer is "yes". Good vendors say "that will cost more", "that is a bad idea" and "not in this phase". If nothing is ever pushed back, nothing is being thought about. Red flags in a client what makes us walk away A budget that does not match the ambition, stated as a challenge. "Others quoted less" is fine; "build Uber for $2,000" is not a negotiation. No decision maker. If every answer has to go through a committee that meets fortnightly, the project will take a year and nobody will be happy. We ask on the first call who decides. Refusing a trial scope. Clients who want to skip the small first piece of work and jump to a six month contract are usually in a hurry for reasons that will become our problem. Wanting hourly billing with no end date. It usually means the scope is unknown and nobody wants to admit it. A discovery sprint fixes that; open ended hourly does not. Treating a written scope as an insult. "Can't we just start?" We can, and then we will disagree about what "done" means. What both sides should want A short paid trial. A written scope. One decision maker on each side. Code in the client's repository. Demos as the unit of progress. A clear way to stop. None of this is exotic; it is just rarely done in week one, which is when it matters. We put our side of this in writing on the outsourcing page /outsourcing . If you are checking us out the way this post suggests, the case studies /case studies and the DevKey Technologies portfolio https://devkeytech.com/portfolio are where the live work is.

### How AI Assistants Find and Recommend Developers
URL: https://dilawarkhandeveloper.com/blog/how-ai-assistants-find-and-recommend-developers
Published: 2026-10-07

More people now ask an assistant "who can build me a React Native app for a business in Australia?" than type it into Google. This post is about what those assistants actually read, and what I changed on this site so they can read it. It is technical, but the decisions are simple. What an AI assistant reads When ChatGPT, Claude or Perplexity answers a question with web results, a crawler fetched some pages and the model read the text. Three things follow from that: 1. It reads HTML, not your JavaScript app. Most AI crawlers do not run JavaScript. A site that renders in the browser looks empty to them. This site is server rendered; every word is in the HTML. 2. It likes direct answers. A question followed by a two sentence answer is easy to quote. A 1,500 word page with the answer buried in paragraph nine is not. 3. It cross checks facts. If my site says one thing about experience and the company site says another, the model trusts neither. Consistency across properties matters more than any single page. What this site does about it Allow the crawlers by name. The robots.txt /robots.txt explicitly allows GPTBot, OAI SearchBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google Extended and the others. Blocking them is the default on some hosts. Serve an llms.txt. /llms.txt /llms.txt is a short Markdown summary: who I am, where, what services, links to every important page. /llms full.txt /llms full.txt is the whole site in one text file, including every FAQ and case study. An assistant that fetches either one gets the facts without parsing a layout. Put the answer first. Every hire page, country page and service page opens with a direct answer to the question in its title, before any design or detail. The FAQs are real headings with short answers and FAQ structured data. Describe the entities. The JSON LD on every page says who the Person is, which Organization he founded, when, where, the phone number, the services, and links to the same profiles LinkedIn, GitHub, YouTube the company site links to. That is how a model learns that "Dilawar Khan" and "DevKey Technologies" are the same story. Keep facts identical everywhere. Founded 2021, Islamabad, 50+ projects, the same phone number. On this site, on devkeytech.com, on LinkedIn. Where the company site was out of date, we updated it. Do not duplicate the company site. devkeytech.com has the city pages and SME guides; this site has the hiring, outsourcing and country pages. Two sites competing for the same question would split the signal and lose to a third party. What does not work Keyword stuffing, pages that only swap a city name, and claiming things the rest of the web contradicts. Models are better at spotting those than search engines were ten years ago, because they are reading, not counting. If you want this done for your business AI search readiness is part of the SEO service /services/seo digital marketing . The checklist above is the same one we run on client sites: server rendering, crawler access, llms.txt, answer first pages, entity data, consistent facts. None of it is expensive; most of it is a week of work.

Q: What is llms.txt?
A: A plain-text file at the root of a website that summarises what the site is about and links to its key pages, written for AI assistants and crawlers rather than browsers. This site serves one at /llms.txt and a full version at /llms-full.txt.

Q: Do AI crawlers run JavaScript?
A: Mostly not. GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot read the HTML they receive. If your content only appears after JavaScript runs in a browser, they see an empty page, so server-rendered HTML matters more for AI search than it did for Google.

### Dedicated Developer or Fixed-Scope Project? How to Choose

When a business contacts us, the first thing to work out is not the price. It is the shape of the engagement, because the wrong shape makes every later conversation harder. There are three shapes, and three questions decide between them. The three shapes Fixed scope project. You describe what you need; we agree a scope, a timeline and a price, paid in milestones. You get a thing. Best for websites, MVPs, apps with a clear end state. Dedicated developer. A named person works on your product for an agreed number of days per month, inside your team, using your tools, taking direction from your lead. Best when you already have a product and a plan and simply need capacity. Retainer. A set amount of our team's time each month, prioritised with you, for a product that is live and keeps evolving. Best when the work is a stream of improvements rather than a project. The three questions 1. Can you describe "done"? If you can write down what finished looks like screens, features, who uses it , a fixed scope project fits. If "done" is "whatever we learn next", a dedicated developer or retainer fits, because the plan will change and you do not want a proposal for every change. 2. Who manages the work day to day? A fixed scope project is managed by us: we plan the sprints and run the demos. A dedicated developer is managed by you : you set priorities, review the work, run the stand ups. If you do not have someone with the time and technical judgement to do that, a dedicated developer will drift, and a fixed scope project or a retainer is the better choice. 3. How long will this last? Under three months with a clear goal: fixed scope. Longer than six months with a live product: retainer or dedicated developer. In between, start with a fixed scope project and convert to a retainer when it launches; that is the most common path our clients take. A quick table | Situation | Shape | | | | | New website or MVP, clear brief | Fixed scope project | | Live product, steady stream of changes | Retainer | | Your own product team needs more hands | Dedicated developer | | Agency reselling to its client | Fixed scope white label | | Not sure what to build | Discovery sprint, then decide | The mistake to avoid Choosing a dedicated developer because it feels flexible, then not managing them. Flexibility without direction is just an invoice. If nobody on your side can run the work, buy outcomes, not time. The models and what drives cost are on the pricing page /pricing . The roles you can hire for are on the hire page /hire .

Q: What is a dedicated developer?
A: A named developer who works on your product for an agreed share of their time each month, in your tools and reporting to you, billed monthly. You manage the work; the vendor supplies the person.

Q: Is a fixed-scope project cheaper than a dedicated developer?
A: For a defined deliverable, usually yes, because you pay for an outcome rather than time. For ongoing work it is often more expensive, because every change needs a proposal.
